• Dear Bennett Woods community,

    My name is Lauren Schefke, and it is my great pleasure to introduce myself as the principal of Bennett Woods Elementary. I am honored to be a part of the Bennett Woods Elementary School community and to continue the tradition of excellence that Bennett Woods is known for. I look forward to continuing to cultivate the strong school-community bond that has been established and to partnering with you to ensure your student has an outstanding elementary education experience.

    I began my administrative career in Okemos in the 2021-2022 school year, and joined Bennett Woods as a dedicated educator of 12 years with degrees in Elementary Education and Spanish, and a Masters of Arts in Educational Technology. I have had the privilege of teaching elementary students in grades 1 through 4 and have worked with students from preschool to 5th grade. Throughout this time, I have learned of the importance of collaboration and am committed to building meaningful relationships with each member of our school community. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas you may have. We are truly working together to create the best learning environment for your child. I am here as your partner in education.

    Bennett Woods and the principles it upholds have a history of providing great opportunities for students. My vision is to continue to build a collaborative, safe and inclusive environment where students and staff are supported and encouraged to grow and learn. It is my goal to embrace the diverse background of the members of our school community and provide all students with engaging and innovative ways to achieve academic and personal success. Together, we will cultivate learners through high expectations, a focus on equity, and a nurturing environment.
